So many emotions expressing betrayal and unsubscription!

same thing when Vice got a HBO show. They will be mad for a few days then stop.

It's too much $. I will still be paying. Wish they would have made a deal with netflix/hulu.

Wait a minute, I thought Chris Harris was banned from ferrari
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:05 |

does this mean no NBC show???
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:07 |

I think the NBC Show's still here.

They kissed and made up.
Well, they made up. Kissing I'm not sure about.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:08 |

No, after he got a massive amount of views on youtube drifting a borrowed 458 they decided to take all the good publicity from Chris they can get.

I watched their show for the first time on NBC Sports last night. Here's what I realized. Chris Harris is now on TV. Matt Farrah is now on TV. And you know what? They actually deserve it. They started on youtube, and they have made it to national TV. I think I might even like /Drive better than Top Gear UK. Don't forget Justin Bieber got famous on youtube first, just like a lot of other stars. It's a natural progression.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:08 |

There is still an NBC show.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:10 |

hmm.. A month of Harris, Musto and Farah ruining Tyres and metaphors or a Chicken fillet burger meal, decisions decisions.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:11 |

why do they always find it necessary to add the strobe lights to the head/tail lights on shows like this? I know top gear and 5th gear do it too.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:13 |
|
Well in Matts defense he was already on the car show.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:16 |

That's how LED lights work. They flicker at a rate that is too fast for the naked eye to see clearly, but it can be caught on a video camera.

i hope so love these guys.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:22 |

That's true I completely forgot about that show.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:27 |

To be fair, there isn't much that goes down well with YouTube commenters.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:33 |

All it took was him to buy a F12 and doing awesome reviews of borrowed Ferrari cars :)
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:34 |

I guess we have Jeremy Clarkson to thank for all car reviews turning into hooning reviews.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 11:38 |

I don't think it's going to matter. It's either this or the channel dies so.

LOL X-D
Maybe they did even more than kiss

Especially the pre-pubescent ones, that through the powers of a mystical and lonesome figure known only as "dad", they came to possess a Nissan GT-R with 1,200bhp and can apparently "smoke" a Veyron with carefree and utter ease.
Whatever that means. I presume that they also use it to travel to the shops, school and to see Granny.

So, it's in line with a magazine subscription? That seems totally reasonable to me.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 12:14 |

what magazine subscription is 40 dollars a year?
![]() 08/03/2014 at 12:42 |

Chicken fillet. Drive plus will be uploaded for free on internet im sure
![]() 08/03/2014 at 12:48 |

oh so it's just a matter of the recording frequency on the camera that's picking it up? I always figured they were just adding it for some odd demonstration purpose. Makes sense now. Reminds me of this:
![]() 08/03/2014 at 12:56 |

Very much so. You see the same effect with old computer monitors - to the eye they seem perfectly fine, but on video you often see black lines scrolling up and down the screen.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 13:00 |

Problem is, I usually watch Drive while I wait for it to cook.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 13:14 |

They never intended this to be a part time charity. They want to make a living doing the show, and now they can. I welcome it! It'll be a nice change from the complete silliness Top Gear has become.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 13:19 |

I kind of figured that would happen. I haven't watched the vid yet, but I am not sure they are ready for a pay channel. It's not like they shouldn't have it, this stuff isn't free, but they may not have enough fans yet to pull it off.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 15:47 |

They're usually $25. Which, considering this is high definition video content, I'd rank as fair.

I think their logic to switching to a paid subscription is totally fine...also this is out of necessity. And anyone that says this is too much is being silly and is just bitter that it was once free. I don't think there is anyone that can't afford $4.00 per month. These guys are unbelievably passionate about what they do, they are extremely hard working and the content quality is outstanding. Here is a list of things that you can remove out of your monthly budget and still afford this excellent programming!
1. Four I-tunes songs
2. One Fancy coffee
3. One McDonalds double cheeseburger meal
4. Drive 30 miles less per month (which equals approximately $4)
5. Four bottles of water or soda
6. One draft beer a month
7. A half a glass of wine a month

Admittedly...I didn't take into account younger viewers. For kids under the age of 15/16, $4.00/month or access to a credit card is hard (I would have had trouble coming up with that as a kid). I think it is an important generation to get hooked on cars, as I worry about the decline in car culture with younger people.

I'm sad /SHAKEDOWN got the axe. :o( Some of the best content on the /DRIVE network.
Because racecar. Duh.
Also, LaFerrari is still the most idiotic name for a vehicle, ever. Obligatory, even though I would hoon, all day, err'day.
![]() 08/04/2014 at 22:01 |
|
I don't pay more than $1 an issue for any of my subscriptions, but I always wait until they're begging me not to leave before I sign back up.
Dupont Registry is $50, for reference.
DRIVE seems like a premium product for a premium price - time will tell if people think it's worth it (I sure hope they do).
![]() 08/04/2014 at 22:03 |

Nice. I love it when it looks like a car's wheels are spinning backward on video...
![]() 08/04/2014 at 22:07 |

I sure hope they don't overthink things, but just do what they've been successful with in the past. The bit with Harris speaking to the camera, and all four of them discussing things together, both seemed forced. I hope they don't try to change themselves too much because "now they're on TV". And they definitely deserve it.

Just call it the F70, Stef. If you call it that, and I call it that, and every car guy and gal calls it that, that will be its name (see Bugeye Sprite).

Yes, if they change the format too much it could ruin it. I can already see a huge improvement with the cinematography though.
